Project Overview
Comprehensive AV systems deployment across the National Aquarium in Baltimore — from immersive exhibit displays and digital wayfinding to event spaces and educational presentation rooms. RTZ provides ongoing AV integration supporting one of the Mid-Atlantic's most visited cultural destinations.
The Challenge
The National Aquarium draws over one million visitors annually across a sprawling multi-building campus on Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The venue needed AV systems that could withstand high-humidity environments near living exhibits, deliver engaging digital content in public galleries, support corporate event rentals, and provide educational programming — all while remaining maintainable by in-house staff with minimal downtime.
Our Solution
RTZ designed and installed a layered AV approach: commercial-grade digital signage throughout public corridors for wayfinding and exhibit storytelling, Samsung and LG displays rated for high-humidity environments near aquatic exhibits, Crestron control systems for event spaces enabling one-touch room configurations, and QSC audio distribution for ambient soundscapes and public address. Educational presentation rooms received dual-display setups with wireless sharing and ceiling microphones for school group programming.
